A theorist who is relevant for my production is Tricia Rose. She states that Hip Hop gives ethnic diverse female rappers a voice introducing female empowerment. This is relevant because my centrepiece and my model is a Filipino/ Spanish young female with a voice who is acting as a young rapper.
Another theorist who is relevant to my production is Laura Mulvey who invented the Male Gaze in which women act as passive objects of male desire, so audiences are forced to view women from the point of view of a heterosexual man.
This is also relevant in John Berger's theory of "Men look, Women appear", which is that women are there solely for objectification within all platforms of the media.
I think I have responded to these theories in an appropriate way. I noticed these codes and conventions that the theorists recognized and hopefully not objectified my model or made her act as a passive object, but developed her character.
