Name, Colour Schemes, Fonts

The name that I originally had created  for my magazine was AMP, however after my target research, I chose to go with the name SMOKE. I think this creates a whole new sense of the magazine. I also experimented with creating some other names and logos.
For the name AMP I tried out  styles and fonts, and the examples you will see in my mock ups look like this:

Here is an example of my earlier trials of the name:

I also experimented with the fonts and designs of some of the other names.

I started trying out masthead designs for my real name, SMOKE. I made this and liked the font, and the outer glow. I also liked the inner shine.

I used the font Trajan Pro and then got my photo of smoke to incorporate it into the logo. It's bold and eye-catching but it took a few drafts to get it how I wanted it.

A font that I have commonly used on the contents page and double page spread is Rockwell Bold in various sizes.
I used many different fonts in my front cover, including Palatino Linotype, Perpetua Titling MT and  Engravers MT. A range of fonts is important because it mixes things up and doesn't make all the cover look the same.
I also used a variety of sizes to show specific words and numbers differently.

My colour scheme is predominantly grey, black and purple, with hints of yellow and aqua blue to highlight certain titles on my front cover. I think this works with my Hip-Hop theme and I like how they work together to make individual words focus points.
