• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My product conforms to codes and conventions of real media products by having a large masthead at the top, a logo, a portrait shot of a person, and cover lines.
• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The background of the front cover is of the common room that it is for sixth form students. The font style is formal which highlights the formal tone to the magazine, and my cover lines are about school and education, so represents something students in sixth form would be interested in.
• What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
A school would distribute this magazine as the information inside is relevant to the consumers.
• Who would be the audience for your media product?
School children and sixth form students.
• How did you attract/address your audience?
I added information on the front cover of what's included inside the issue and I also added a student so the magazine looked friendly and relatable to the target audience.
• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learned how to take a photo and to place text and edit logos. These are important skills I now possess and will use in my final production.
• Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I feel prepared for the production of my magazine as it made me consider how I would like to lay out my cover and contents page, however this task has also opened my eyes to more inventive ways of looking at creating my cover, while conforming to common conventions of magazines.
